For those of you that follow our breeding program - this is the mare that labored three days last year, then hemorrhaged and had to have "TURBO" pulled from her at 2:00 AM.  This year - popped her filly right out, no problems.!

(Shark x Reina)  ApHC, ApSHA chestnut roan colt

born 08/29/03 sometime in the night - she fooled me!

I want to know how these two loud colored horses had such a minimal colored foal (sheesh) - he is colored and will have regular papers but you sure have to look closely to see it!  He has got the BIGGEST bone I have ever seen on a non-draft foal.  Cannon bone is 5.5" at birth ~WHOA~ and he shuffles.  Registered as Sarke's Rena Terror.

(predicted chestnut roan filly then changed to a colt)

Remarkable!  I changed my mind to a colt last night when I dreamed his name...

LAST ONE - HE'S HERE!!!!!

"BUG"

Naoma's Pride and Joy

(Shark x Joy)  ApHC, ApSHA chestnut colt

born 09/16/03!

He's not colored, but has all characteristics and will get regular papers.  Registered as  Sarke's Ba Humbug.

(predicted chestnut colt)

Poor little guy - he was a preemie.  First, Joy had no milk and we had to give him frozen colostrum and then feed him every two hours while poor Joy had to have shots every two hours to try and get her milk down.  Then, due to her lack of milk, he developed joint infections and had to go to the vet clinic to be joint flushed.  And, on top of all that, he's really windswept in his hind end and doesn't get around too well. And then, he split the skin on his foreleg from coronary band to pastern.   He's improving, and he's a fighter, but I sure feel sorry for him!

Check him out!  Halloween Day!  He has teeny tiny shoes on his back feet now to help support his heels, he was rocked back on his heels, toes in the air, and was smashing the heels flat.

February 2004 update for the Bug Fan Club!  He is a fuzzy monster right now...shoes are now off and he is very straight and correct.  the vet has given him a clean bill of health and he is as tall as his brother born the week before, so being a preemie sure hasn't hurt his growth at all!  We all know he got weaned earlier than excepted due to Joy's demise, but he is chipper, full of energy and a real terror in the field, ripping around like a speed demon.  I know he's going to make a great endurance horse.  (And look at that pretty face!)

Oh, yeah - run run run....never would know to see him that he had such a hard beginning.  Already he's Blade's best friend, giving him pony rides around the barn.  Naoma is diligently working Bug in long lines, preparing him for driving training in the spring.
